All upcoming Minneapolis DFL conventions are listed below. Even-year conventions conduct party business and consider endorsement for Minneapolis School Board (4 seats in '20, 5 seats in '22), while the 2021 Minneapolis Municipal convention will consider endorsement for Mayor, Board of Estimate and Taxation (2 seats), and Park and Recreation Board (9 seats).

All Minneapolis DFL conventions will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, a centrally-located accessible site staffed with union labor, and one of very few venues capable of comfortably holding 1800 delegates and related infrastructure. The listed times reflect gavel-in of the convention, and additional events may take place.

DFL Endorsed Candidates for School Board File for Office

MINNEAPOLIS - Today the DFL endorsed candidates for Minneapolis School Board filed for office at City Hall. Kimberly Caprini, Josh Pauly, Jenny Arneson, Siad Ali, and Nelson Inz make up the DFL-endorsed team for school board in 2018. They were all endorsed on their first ballot on May 12th at the Minneapolis DFL convention.

“This diverse team of candidates reflect the values of our DFL party: equity, opportunity, and fairness. They will work together during this campaign and as governing partners create opportunities for students in every corner of our city,” said Minneapolis DFL Chair Devin Hogan.

Citywide candidates Kimberly Caprini and Josh Pauly both bring unique experiences and skill sets to this work. Caprini is a  lifelong resident of North Minneapolis. She has been a leader in Northside schools for over 12 years and a member of the district’s World’s Best Workforce 2020 Advisory Committee. Pauly has a Master’s in Education from the University of Minnesota and is a former social studies teacher at Sanford Middle School. He spent three years at Sanford teaching 8th grade Global Studies, 6th grade Minnesota Studies, and completed the Minnesota Education Policy Fellowship Program.

Jenny Arneson, Siad Ali and Nelson Inz are experienced school board members representing neighborhoods on the eastern side of the city.

In addition to the Minneapolis DFL, Caprini, Pauly, Arneson, Ali, and Inz have each been endorsed by the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, SEIU, the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation and the AFL-CIO.

The DFL will be supporting these candidates throughout the election season with coordinated campaigning with other endorsed candidates, door knocks, literature, paid ads, and the DFL sample ballot.

“We are very confident we have the plan and the resources necessary to make sure our DFL endorsed candidates are successful in the primary this August and the general election in November,” Hogan said. “The Minneapolis DFL has a tremendous track record in helping our candidates get across the finish line and this year will be no exception."
